New Facebook Timeline

Facebook is rolling out Timeline for Pages (March 30th), let Disrupt Media Group help you embrace the new design and maximise new added features that allow you to engage with your client families like never before.

No More Default Landing Page, Introducing the “Cover Photo”

Facebook has removed the coveted “default landing page” that we relied on to direct users to click the “like” button. Now, businesses must rely on their engagement to foster “likes”. The first step in doing this is to create a branded cover photo.

Choose an image that is representative of your company, and don’t be afraid to get creative with it. You can change it as often as you wish, but you should also adhere to Facebook’s policies regarding cover photos, which states that cover photos cannot include:

  • Price or purchase information, such as “40% off” or “Download it at our website.”
  • Contact information such as a website address, email, mailing address, or information that should go in your Page’s “About” section.
  • References to Facebook features or actions, such as “Like” or “Share” or an arrow pointing from the cover photo to any of these features.
  • Calls-to-action, such as “Get it now” or “Tell your friends.”
  • Covers must not be false, deceptive or misleading, and must not infringe on third parties’ intellectual property.

Here is an example of a cover photo we created for Evan J Strong Funeral Services. The image is designed to brand the funeral home as well as the funeral director (who is “the brand”):

It’s Still All About the “Like” Button!

Yes, the magic “thumbs up” is still top priority. Getting fans to like your Page is still a must. Yes, you can still “like-gate” your valuable content. Your custom apps are now positioned just below the cover photo in prime location. You can even assign custom icons to the app buttons.

When a user clicks on your custom app icon they are directed to a full-width (810px) page where you can place a custom landing image to “like-gate” the app and valuable content.

Custom Apps

We build custom apps tailored to the needs of your funeral home and customers. We create custom apps that provide your firm with unlimited engagement opportunities, like apps for Pre-Planning, Obituary Stream, Photo/Video Contests, and even a Online Store, it’s like having your own mimi-site built right into Facebook.

Mobile Enabled Custom Apps

Millions of people access Facebook everyday through handheld mobile devices, but as of right now Facebook does not allow custom apps to be accessible via a mobile device (natively). Well we have a work around. We create separate URL’s for your custom apps, the app detects whether the user is accessing the app on a computer or on a mobile device and adjusts the app accordingly. This feature even works with the new Timeline layout!
